A profile keeps your settings in PurrOS, for example one profile per car or per track. The profile bar across the top of the pedal settings page is where you create, load, save and export them.
What is on the profile bar?
- Profile selector: switch between your saved profiles.
- Undo and Redo: step back and forth through your changes.
- New profile, Load profile, Save profile.
- Load device profile: the last entry in the profile selector. It brings the settings currently on the pedals into PurrOS.
- Export profile: saves a copy of the profile to a file.
- Send to device: writes the current settings to the pedals. See Send to device: what the button shows and what greyed out means.
What is the difference between Save profile and Export profile?
Save profile (Ctrl+S) overwrites the selected profile in your DocumentsPurrOS folder. Export profile saves a copy of the profile as a .fbc_profile file anywhere you choose, using a Save dialog. Neither of them sends anything to the pedals: use Send to device for that.
How do I load a profile from a file?
Load profile opens a file picker for .fbc_profile files and copies the profile into your list of saved profiles. If a profile with the same name already exists, PurrOS asks: Cancel, Duplicate or Overwrite. You can also double-click a .fbc_profile file to open it in PurrOS.
Can I use an exported profile on another PC?
Yes. A .fbc_profile file loads on any PC running PurrOS. It carries the calibration of the unit it was saved from, so calibration is restored correctly only on that same unit. On a different unit, recalibrate: the curves and deadzones carry over fine.
Can I rename or delete a profile?
Not in PurrOS. Use File Explorer: your saved profiles are files in the DocumentsPurrOS folder.
What does Load device profile do?
Load device profile reads the pedal settings only: calibration (range and direction), the Bottom and Top deadzones and each pedal’s curve. Max force follows from the brake calibration. Mechanical setup and Description keep the values of the profile that was open.
If you have unsaved changes, PurrOS asks first: Cancel, Discard or Save. Nothing is written to disk. The result appears as Device profile, so save it as a profile if you want to keep it. Your existing profile files are untouched; on the next start, select your profile again from the selector.
Is Max force saved in a profile?
Yes. A profile keeps your Max force, which PurrOS recalculates from the brake calibration when you load the profile.
How do Undo and Redo work?
Undo (Ctrl+Z) and Redo (Ctrl+Y, or Ctrl+Shift+Z) work on the pedal settings page, with no limit on how far back you can go. They cover curves, Favorites, deadzones, calibration, inversion, Mechanical setup, Description and edits made in the overlay. They do not cover Max force. Undo and Redo are cleared when you load a profile, read the settings from the pedals, or choose Discard. Undo does not send anything to the pedals.
What is the Description tab?
The Description tab labels a profile with the Simulator and the Car it was built for, a Date (filled in automatically and editable) and free-text Comments. It is useful once you keep a profile per car or per track.
What does the Mechanical setup tab store?
The Mechanical setup tab is where you record the physical configuration of your pedals. It is stored in the profile and is informational only: it is never sent to the pedals. Keep its fields matched to what you have fitted after any mechanical change.
What happens to my profiles after a firmware update?
Your saved profile files are not touched. A firmware update resets calibration, deadzones, response curves and axis inversion on the pedals, so after an update select your saved profile and press Send to device, or recalibrate if you have no saved profile. See PurrOS firmware updates.
What about the Profile manager?
The Profile manager in the sidebar is greyed out and is not available yet. See PurrOS Home screen and sidebar.
