Send to device: what the button shows and what greyed out means

After you click Send to device, the button shows Sending… and then turns green with Sent to device when the pedals confirm they received your settings. A greyed-out Send to device button means the pedals already have exactly what is on screen: there is nothing to send.

What does the button show when it works?

When you click Send to device, it shows Sending… for a split second. When the pedals confirm, it turns green with Sent to device for about 1.5 seconds, then goes back to Send to device, normally greyed out because nothing is left to send. There is no separate pop-up, dialog or sound: only the button’s label and colour change. If you hover over it while it is idle, it says “Send the current profile to the device without saving a file”.

Why is the button greyed out?

  • There is nothing to send. The settings on screen match what the pedals last confirmed. This is the case right after a confirmed send, right after PurrOS reads the settings from the pedals when they connect, and after you undo your edits back to that state.
  • A firmware update is running on another connected pedal set. Hover over the button: it says configuration changes are paused until that update finishes. Wait for it to finish.
  • A send is in progress. Wait a moment.

Why is the button still active after I saved a calibration?

Because the pedals don’t have it yet. Save in the Calibrate dialog only updates the profile in PurrOS; it does not send anything to the pedals. Click Send to device to send your calibration and your other changes.

Which actions send straight away?

Changes to calibration, deadzones, curves and Max force reach the pedals when you click Send to device. A few actions send straight away: the deadzone keyboard shortcuts, Save in the full-screen calibration window (opened with its keyboard shortcut), and Save in the unsaved-changes prompt.

What if the button turns amber?

If the button turns amber and shows Send failed — Retry, PurrOS got no confirmation from the pedals within about three seconds. Hovering over it says no acknowledgement was received from the device, and you can click to retry. Check that the pedals are connected and powered, then click it again. A late confirmation still turns the button green. If a send cannot start at all, for example because no pedals are connected, the button goes straight to Send failed — Retry.

Where are my settings stored?

On the pedal hardware, not in PurrOS memory, so you can close the app and race.

What if my changes still don’t reach the pedals?

Switch to USB 2.0, then check your set’s tile on the Home screen. If it offers a firmware update or shows Update didn’t complete, finish the update with the pedals powered and connected until the update dialog shows Update complete, then select your saved profile and press Send to device. If PurrOS shows Product not confirmed, click Get help. See PurrOS firmware updates.
