Deadzones and maximum brake force in PurrOS

In PurrOS you set a Bottom and a Top deadzone for each pedal, and for the brake you choose the force at which it reaches 100% output.

  • Updated 5 Oct 2026

In PurrOS you set a Bottom and a Top deadzone for each pedal, and for the brake you choose the force at which it reaches 100% output. Both are on the Input settings tab of the pedal settings page, and they work the same way for PurrPRO FORMULA PEDALS and PurrPRO GT PEDALS.

What are the Bottom and Top deadzones?

You can set a Bottom and a Top deadzone for each pedal, from 0 to 25%, in steps of 0.05%. The range is set in PurrOS and is the same for PurrPRO FORMULA PEDALS and PurrPRO GT PEDALS. A Bottom deadzone ignores the first part of the travel. A Top deadzone lets you reach 100% before the end of the travel. Set them with the arrows or type the values into the deadzone fields.

How do I set the maximum brake force?

Max force sets the pedal force at which the brake reaches 100% output, anywhere from 15 to 195 kg, in steps of 1 kg. The range is set in PurrOS and is the same for PurrPRO FORMULA PEDALS and PurrPRO GT PEDALS. The brake uses a 200 kg brake load cell with 195 kg max braking force. If you set Max force lower, you reach full braking at that figure instead.

How do I show the brake force in kilograms?

Switch on Show brake force in kilograms to see the live readout in kilograms. Switch it off to see percent. This does not change the graph scale.

What are Min and Max, and are they deadzones?

No. Min and Max are the raw sensor values captured when you calibrate the pedal. Raw shows the live reading, so you can check that the pedal responds across its whole travel. You can set Min and Max with the arrows or type the values in directly. See Calibration in PurrOS: step by step.

Can I change the deadzones with the keyboard?

Yes, with optional global shortcuts. They are off by default. To turn them on, open Settings, then Keyboard shortcuts, and enable Enable global shortcuts. You then assign your own keys: there are no default keys.

  • Left deadzone + and − change the Bottom deadzone.
  • Right deadzone + and − change the Top deadzone.

Each key press changes the deadzone by 0.5%, within the 0–25% range. The shortcuts act on the pedal selected in the overlay, which is the throttle by default. They work while a game has focus, and they send the change to the pedals immediately. See PurrOS in-game overlay and recording.

When do my changes reach the pedals?

Changes to calibration, deadzones, curves and Max force reach the pedals when you click Send to device. A few actions send straight away: the deadzone keyboard shortcuts, Save in the full-screen calibration window (opened with its keyboard shortcut), and Save in the unsaved-changes prompt. Max force reaches the pedals only when you send your settings, with Send to device or with Save in the unsaved-changes prompt. Saving a profile does not send anything. See Send to device: what the button shows and what greyed out means.

What happens to my deadzones after a firmware update?

Every firmware update resets calibration, deadzones, response curves and axis inversion to factory defaults. After an update, select your saved profile and press Send to device, or recalibrate. See PurrOS firmware updates.
